On Windows 10 you do this by right click on the desktop click on "Display settings" and set the "Change the size of text, apps and other items" slider down to 100%.īy the way most guides on how to get TS running are a bit old and doesn't include recent developments. If that doesn't work you need to globally disable DPI scaling. To fix the sidebars going off screen you need to browse to the game directory find "game.exe", right click on it, click on "properties", go to the compatibility tab and enable "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". Not to mention that the units look tiny in a resolution over 1280 x 720 (or 1600 x 900 depending on the monitor) In game TS will crash at a height around 1240. C&C1 and RA fan patches let you can stretch the game to fit at that resolution, but the upper limit of the games themselves is 3000x3000. None of the classic C&C games will run at that resolution. I may or may not have left a step or 2 out because I messed around with it a lot before ever getting it to work, and I'm just reciting purely from memory. NOTE: I didn't run the game in Windows 98 or run as an Admin as 99% of the guides suggested. Once downloaded, right click on the shortcut and go into 'Properties', from there go to the 'Compatibility' Tab then enable 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'Īlso, in the 'Compatibility' tab, enable 'Reduced Color Mode' at 16 bit.įinally, access the 'Sun.ini' file, and change the resolution to 1600x900 which should be playable enough screen size and not crash the game. I'm at wits end with it, please send for help!ĮDIT: Finally got it working thanks to /u/Tore299 ! I'll post what I did below to get it working in case any else ever has this issue.įor starters, I installed the CnCNet Patch I don't know what else there is to do, I've downloaded over the CnC menu patch and copied over ddraw.dll and etc. When I set the game, it just either doesn't respond of loads up like before then crashes. One thing, that I've been unable to do that I noticed all the guides have said to do is run the game in compatibility mode as Windows 98 / Windows Me. I've adjusted the color mode to 16-bit and when I try to run it in the 4k resolution, the game gives me a internal error as it loads up a skirmish game and crashes. I am trying to run in a 3840x2160, but when i run it it's in a tiny little box in the bottom right corner of my screen (the rest of my screen becomes black), and the more I tweak the resolution the more the more the box leave the playable screen. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and the game should work.I'm trying to get TS to run on W10, and I've googled everything on how to do it and downloaded patch here and patch there.
